What a wonderful season to help meet the needs of our neighbors! The Christmas Giving Tree has always been a wonderful opportunity to do this and this year the need is even greater. To keep it simple and safe, bring your “Giving Tree” items to the church on Thursday, December 17, 5:30- 6:45 or Saturday, December 19, 11:30- 1:00 - during the collection for DIW Hygiene products (See church newsletter). There will be people there to pick up your donation at your car and make sure it goes to the right place. (Please place the cards in an envelope addressed to the organization(s) of your choice.
These are the giving opportunities that have been identified by our contact people within the church:
1 - MoveFwd - Supporting at-risk and homeless youth and their families in the western suburbs and school districts. Bobbi Pointer states that Gift Cards to Target, Holiday station, Speedway Station, Cub, Lyft, and Uber will be greatly appreciated by these youth during the holiday season.
2- ICA - Our local food shelf serving those experiencing food and housing insecurity - Nancy Rademacher, as our point person, states that your gift of Cub, Target, and Great Clips gift cards will help lift the holiday spirit for these families.
3- Liberty Community Church families in need and 21st Century Academy K–12 Northside scholars. Katie Williams is our point person. She states that Cub Cards will support these scholars and their families during the holidays and the distance learning time. You may deliver the cards to church or send to Katie Williams directly - 3725 Parkway, Wayzata, 55391.
4 - Pine Ridge - Cecy Faster, our Pine Ridge connection, states that blankets continue to be an important and necessary item for the winter months. Please purchase a blanket and either deliver it to Cecy’s or bring it to the church. Cecy will get them to Pine Ridge Reservation.
Warm hearts, full tummies and safe transportation are sure outcomes of your donations. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
