Major Gifts is responsible for helping the church perform significant outreach projects in the community and world. We have an annual allocation of $30,000 - $100,000 which we distribute in large grants, preferably of $5000 or more. We work together with the other focus groups in the church to collect applications from agencies and projects seeking financial support.
The group uses a decision criteria and screening process to help us prioritize among the many applications. Projects we fund should:
• Create sustainable change • Come from an organization that has a clear vision with specific goals • Be a project that will not happen without St. Luke • Have potential for congregational involvement • Meet an immediate need • Be a project that has demonstrable results • Be cost-effective in use of resources • Have a clear plan to measure success • Be from an organization that has a history with St. Luke • These criteria are not the only basis for selection, but they are the main considerations in our prioritization.
The Major Gifts Focus Group welcomes new members who have expertise or a passion for looking at outside projects for potential funding.
Next Meeting: We meet seasonally, usually in spring for 3-4 meetings, to collect, review, and allocate funds for the year.
